Maryland Food Bank: 2019 Day of Service
On September 12, we deployed our staff to MFB partner sites from the western mountains to the Eastern Shore to show that we all can do more to help end hunger for more Marylanders as part of our first ever “MFB Day of Service.”
Employees had their choice of 11 different sites to help our partners sort and distribute food, tackle cleaning and organizing tasks, assist with administrative needs, perform landscaping jobs – supporting them in variety of ways, ultimately allowing them to have a greater impact in their communities. #ittakesmore on Instagram
“While helping to pass out food, one woman told me ‘Things have been really tough lately, I don’t know what we would’ve done without you all.’ It was a sweet, simple sentiment that really touched my heart. I am so glad I was given the opportunity to engage with our partner’s clients on this day!”
“Having close interactions with the people we serve, was very rewarding.”
“We know our daily work in the office is impactful but working directly with our partners at their site feels like so much more.”
“Anytime I can see firsthand the impact we have on folks who need help at this time, it makes me more dedicated to what we do, and why we do it.”
“It always feels good to be working helping to end hunger by doing my job, but to be able to meet and talk with the people whose lives I am impacting was both humbling and inspirational – I can’t wait to do it again next year.”

This was really great! Being able to talk to and directly help the people we are doing all this work for was very uplifting. I’m recharged to keep up what we do here at the Maryland Food Bank
